Oh Oklahoma Aimed At 2012 Scone Cup – Race Preview

April 20th, 2012

The Scone Cup is set to run at Scone Racecourse on Friday 18th May, 2012.

Run over a distance of 1,600 metres, the Scone Cup is run under quality handicap conditions.

The 2012 Scone Cup is worth $110,000 in prize money and is open to horses of all ages.

Trainer Tim Martin is looking to run Oh Oklahoma in the 2012 Scone Cup.

”We made the decision to give him another chance on the track because of the fact he wasn’t getting too many mares at stud and he was doing so well,” Martin said.

”I had him in pre-training for almost a month and gave him a barrier trial at Rosehill a fortnight ago, knowing he would perform well.

“He’ll have another trial shortly and I’m planning to run him at Scone where I’m pretty confident he will run a strong race.”

Oh Oklahoma has won three of his 12 race starts and has earned more than $270,000.

The nine-year-old gelding spent two years at stud but has been brought back into work for another go at being a race horse.

His most recent result was in the Group 3 Queen’s Cup, where he finished fourth.
