Gear Change To Give Speediness The Edge In 2013 Scone Cup

May 15th, 2013

Trainer Colin Scott believes that Speediness can come through with the goods when he lines up for the Listed Scone Cup this Friday May 17, 2013.

Speediness will be given two gear changes for the race, including a one eyed blinker.

“We’ve tinkered with a bit of different gear and I’ve put a one-eyed blinker on him to try and stop him hanging in,” Scott said.

“He did it badly last time at Hawkesbury.”

Speediness placed third in the Listed Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury on May 4, 2013, despite his less than perfect run.

The four-year-old has won five of his 20 race starts in total and has earned more than $359,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

Scott feels that the slight changes will be enough to make the winning difference in the 2013 Scone Cup.

“We worked him at Scone with the new gear and he worked brilliantly, so it’s all systems go,” he said.

The trainer is looking to keep his focus on a possible spring racing campaign for Speediness later in the year.

“I’m just going to try something different this time and not even think about Brisbane with the aim of trying to get him through a spring campaign,” Scott said.

“Something has always gone wrong before.”
