Anticipation is Building for the 2014 Scone Cup

May 6th, 2014

Excitement is growing for the upcoming 2014 Emirates Park Scone Cup, scheduled for Friday May 16. Nominations will be released on the Monday prior (12th) and we should have the full field around midday on Wednesday.

Peter Snowden and Anthony Cummings have expressed their intention to nominate horses. Alongside their runners there should be a good selection of strong local horses. No doubt there will be a few big stables there with some experienced mile runners.

Weather on Friday should be conducive to fair racing. We can expect some clouds and possibly some light rain early in the morning, but it should be all clear by midday. It might get overcast later in the evening, but hopefully we can get through most of the race card and the Scone Cup itself with plenty of sun to spare.

Like in most years past, we can expect the 2014 Scone Cup to be an exciting race. One of the most highly anticipated miles at NSW country meets, the Scone Cup is always a cracker. Combined now with four listed races and the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic on the next day, this is a two day carnival not to be missed.

There’ll be the same great off-the-track action that we see every year, with all the locals turning out to pit their own fashions against those of the visitors from metropolitan areas. With an expected turnout of close to 10,000, in comparison to the Scone population of just over 4,600, this race day is set to be huge.

The best part is, you don’t have to be at the track to enjoy some of the best local punting action of the year. Simply get on board with Ladbrokes.com.au, and back your winning picks from home!
